"Colors" by Eloise Banting

Glass Muller and Beautiful Paint!

“Colors”

Each day is a picture,
One we paint all our own,
Like adding to a scripture!
Or a tapestry WEAVE sewn!

Hmm...

Today I shall paint with every color,
Bursting with each lively hue!
With a brush and my glass muller,
There’s nothing I can’t do!

 But,
somedays...

Our canvas may run a little dreary,
Forcing us to paint an ugly scene!
All we have are shades of gray,
Dulling an ever-bright sheen!

But,
Of course...

If anyone could...

We would all paint with a deep crimson,
Or blues and yellow-gold!
But life can cruelly change our supply,
With dripping sadness and mold!

But through my years as a life’s painter,
I have crafted paint forever lasting,
My colors never grow fainter,
Each one magically contrasting!

Life can never take them from me,
So for a friend, or through disaster,
I give you the colors I always see!
Each formula simple to master!

I am so lucky for a large blank canvas,
Life gives me everyday!
Why does it give others a used notebook?!
Taking their natural rights away?!

I vow to paint with all my colors,
All the days that my life will grant!
Leaving no blank space on my artwork,
Giving my colors to those who can’t!

But there is another day,
So wondrous, so bright!
And there is a limitless bounty of color,
And a golden quill for you to write!
Don’t think of those dulling paints, my friend,
Don’t think of those artless days--
Because here is a little canvas,
Whose stories are never grim!
Because here are many colors,
Whose vibrance will never dim!
In its glimmering glory,
Its brilliance will never faint!
Prithee, my brother,
Onto a great canvas paint!
